چکیده

Immune system changes during pregnancy could make pregnant women more susceptible to SARS-Cov-2 infection. The use of corticosteroids within obstetrics has been shown reduce the risks respiratory distress syndrome, intraventricular haemorrhage, necrotizing enterocolitis and neonatal death in baby associated with premature delivery. During COVID-19 pandemic, have trialled as a treatment dampen ‘cytokine storm’ inflammatory processes. Corticosteroids long known immunosuppressive effects that hinder body's ability mount defence against thereby delaying viral clearance. In this clinical case studies, antenatal steroids for fetal lung maturation appear be benefit did not result deterioration maternal disease. Our studies support current recommendations from Royal College Obstetricians Gynaecologists ie is appropriate patients who are suspected or confirmed SARS-CoV-2

Cited2 is required for fetal lung maturation.

Lung maturation at the terminal sac stage of lung development is characterized by a coordinated increase in terminal sac formation and vascular development in conjunction with the differentiation of alveolar type I and type II epithelial cells. The Cited2-Tcfap2a/c complex has been shown to activate transcription of Erbb3 and Pitx2c during mouse development. In this study, we show that E17.5 to...

Antenatal corticosteroids for accelerating fetal lung maturation for women at risk of preterm birth.

BACKGROUND Respiratory morbidity including respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) is a serious complication of preterm birth and the primary cause of early neonatal mortality and disability. While researching the effects of the steroid dexamethasone on premature parturition in fetal sheep in 1969, Liggins found that there was some inflation of the lungs of lambs born at gestations at which the lun...
